RMR NCO's Host 99th "Ypres Dinner"

Saturday 18th of April 2015, Westmount Armoury – The Royal Montreal Regiment Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess hosted their 99th annual 2nd Battle of Ypres Dinner.

The President of the Mess Committee, Sgt Brent McNair, was delighted to host Mr. Okill (Gordon Bruce)

Stuart as the Guest of Honour who was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Slyvia Stuart. Former members of the Regiment, guests and serving non-commissioned officers of the RMR listened intently to Mr. Okill Stuart recount his experiences’ as a Bombardier with the 14th Canadian Field Regiment (RCA). Mr. Okill Stuart recounted with great candour the D Day invasion of Nomandy and later his experiences in the Netherlands and Germany.

Following the dinner Regimental Sergeant Major of the RMR, MWO David Cochrane, presented plaques to outgoing members of the Mess to MWO Ladd, MWO Langlois and WO Desmeules. A presentation to the former RSM, CWO Crawford, capped off the evenings formal functions.

The evening concluded and was a great success, the PMC took the opportunity to challenge everyone in attendance to reach back to former members of the mess and ensure they attend next year’s dinner.
