THIS DAY IN RMR HISTORY – 21 August 1914 – By the third week of August enough infrastructure had been erected at Valcartier, and sufficient administrative staff was in place to permit the arrival of the first detachments of troops who would form the First Canadian Division. Numerous train loads of troops were now arriving at the camp each day. Following the previous days arrivals, another forty-two hundred men were expected this day, with more to follow over succeeding days.
