Biggar) to arrange local food supplies for the men and horses collecting at various points.\u00a0 On the announcement that the Contingent would mobilize at Valcartier, two non-permanent companies of the C.A.S.C., later increased to four, were ordered there to take charge of the feeding and transport in the camp.\u00a0 Contracts were made with large dealers in Quebec, Montreal, Toronto, and elsewhere for food supplies \u2013 bread, meat, vegetables \u2013 and for hay and oats.\u00a0 The daily ration was ample and of good quality.\u00a0 Cooking was done on camp ranges set under corrugated iron roofs in the lines.\u201d\u00a0[2]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/08-Sept-1914_B.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9004 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/08-Sept-1914_B-292x300.jpg\" alt=\"08 Sept 1914_B\" width=\"292\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<pre>[1] Dodds, Brig.- Gen.
