{"id":7694,"date":"2014-07-24T06:42:37","date_gmt":"2014-07-24T10:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/?p=7694"},"modified":"2014-07-24T06:42:37","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T10:42:37","slug":"serbia-appeals-for-help-1914","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmrmuseum.com\/fr\/serbia-appeals-for-help-1914\/","title":{"rendered":"Serbia Appeals For Help: 1914"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIS DAY IN RMR HISTORY: \u00a0July 24, 1914, the Serbian regent, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstworldwar.com\/bio\/alexander_serbia.htm\">Alexander<\/a> sent a telegram to Russian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstworldwar.com\/bio\/nicholasii.htm\">Tsar Nicholas II<\/a> in the middle of the so-called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstworldwar.com\/origins\/julycrisis.htm\">July Crisis<\/a> of 1914.\u00a0 One day earlier the Austro-Hungarian government had given Serbia <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstworldwar.com\/source\/austrianultimatum.htm\">a harsh ultimatum<\/a> in response to the assassination of Austrian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstworldwar.com\/bio\/ferdinand.htm\">Archduke Franz Ferdinand<\/a> on June 28th.
