Organized by Alexandra Bilhete, the Outreach Coordinator, and Melanie Presseau-Dumais, the museum&#8217;s digital archivist, classes from several local schools have enjoyed private tours lasting about an hour each.<\/p>\n<p>Each visit starts with a video that highlights the RMR&#8217;s achievements since 1914, the classes are then divided into groups to best take advantage of the limited space within the museum itself. While one group visits the museum, the other group completes a scavenger hunt on the parade square, searching for clues to unlock the history of the RMR and learn\u00a0the story of Canada at war.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12602\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 603px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Museum-visit.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12602\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Museum-visit.png\" alt=\"Westmount High students touring the RMR Museum\" width=\"603\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Westmount High students touring the RMR Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The students are also given a guided tour of certain key artefacts from the museum&#8217;s collection that really highlight the personal\u00a0<em>day-to-day<\/em> life of a typical Canadian soldier during the First World War, as well as pointing out Montreal&#8217;s connection to the famous poem <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/in-flanders-field-written-in-1915\/\">In Flanders Field<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>and encouraging the students to share their own family stories about war. <em>&#8220;It is all about creating an interactive experience for the students&#8221;<\/em>, commented Alexandra.<\/p>\n<p>Admission is free (donations alwats gratefully accepted).
