From left to right; CO of the 34th CBG Col Dan Chafa\u00ef, incoming CO LCol Denis and outgoing CO LCol Langlais.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Westmount, Quebec &#8211; 29 October 2015: \u00a0<span id=\"E21\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">This past <\/span><span id=\"E22\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Sunday, on the 25<\/span><span id=\"E23\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">th<\/span><span id=\"E24\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> of October, a change of command took place <\/span><span id=\"E25\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">between Lieutenant C<\/span><span id=\"E26\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">olonel<\/span><span id=\"E27\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> (<\/span><span id=\"E29\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">LCol<\/span><span id=\"E31\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">)<\/span><span id=\"E32\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> Paul <\/span><span id=\"E34\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Langlais<\/span><span id=\"E36\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">, outgo<\/span><span id=\"E37\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">ing commanding officer<\/span><span id=\"E38\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> (CO)<\/span><span id=\"E39\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">,<\/span><span id=\"E40\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> and <\/span><span id=\"E42\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">L<\/span><span id=\"E43\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Col<\/span><span id=\"E45\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> <\/span><span id=\"E48\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Jean-Fran<\/span><span id=\"E49\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">\u00e7ois Denis incoming <\/span><span id=\"E50\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">CO<\/span><span id=\"E51\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> of The Royal Montreal Regiment<\/span><span id=\"E52\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> (RMR)<\/span><span id=\"E53\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">. The ceremony took place at t<\/span><span id=\"E54\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">he home of The Royal Montreal Regiment located in the heart of Westmount.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" contenteditable=\"true\">\n<div id=\"contents\">\n<p id=\"E55\" class=\"qowt-stl-NormalWeb\"><span id=\"E56\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Th<\/span><span id=\"E57\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">e ceremony eventuated <\/span><span id=\"E58\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">under <\/span><span id=\"E59\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">the <\/span><span id=\"E60\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">presiding officer<\/span><span id=\"E61\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> C<\/span><span id=\"E62\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">olonel Dan <\/span><span id=\"E64\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Chafa\u00ef<\/span><span id=\"E66\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">, <\/span><span id=\"E67\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">commander of the <\/span><span id=\"E68\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">34<\/span><span id=\"E69\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">th<\/span><span id=\"E70\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> Canadian Brigade Group (34 CBG), as well as several distinguished guests, including the <\/span><span id=\"E71\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">honourable<\/span><span id=\"E72\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> Peter Trent, mayor of Westmount<\/span><span id=\"E73\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">. This was also an occasion for <\/span><span id=\"E75\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">LC<\/span><span id=\"E76\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">ol<\/span><span id=\"E78\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> <\/span><span id=\"E80\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">Langlais<\/span><span id=\"E82\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> to march at the head of The Regiment one last time and to say goodbye to <\/span><span id=\"E83\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">T<\/span><span id=\"E84\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">he<\/span><span id=\"E85\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> <\/span><span id=\"E86\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">R<\/span><span id=\"E87\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">egimental family.<\/span><br id=\"E89\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><br id=\"E91\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><span id=\"E92\">In his departing speech, <\/span><span id=\"E94\">LC<\/span><span id=\"E95\">ol<\/span><span id=\"E97\"> <\/span><span id=\"E99\">Lang<\/span><span id=\"E100\">lais<\/span><span id=\"E102\"> talked about the ties the RMR<\/span><span id=\"E103\"> holds with the various <\/span><span id=\"E104\">communities<\/span><span id=\"E105\"> and how it was one of his priorities to maintain and <\/span><span id=\"E106\">strengthen<\/span><span id=\"E107\"> those bonds <\/span><span id=\"E108\">during his command<\/span><span id=\"E109\">.<\/span><span id=\"E110\"> <\/span><span id=\"E111\"> <\/span><span id=\"E112\">The <\/span><span id=\"E113\">RMR<\/span><span id=\"E114\"> accomplishes this by regularly para<\/span><span id=\"E115\">ding in their affiliated cities: <\/span><span id=\"E116\">Westmoun<\/span><span id=\"E117\">t<\/span><span id=\"E118\">,<\/span><span id=\"E119\"> Ham<\/span><span id=\"E120\">p<\/span><span id=\"E121\">stead and Pointe-Claire<\/span><span id=\"E122\">,<\/span><span id=\"E123\"> <\/span><span id=\"E124\">to<\/span><span id=\"E125\"> which<\/span><span id=\"E126\"> they recently exer<\/span><span id=\"E127\">cised their freedom of the city. <\/span><span id=\"E128\">He took the <\/span><span id=\"E129\">opportunity<\/span><span id=\"E130\"> to highlight some of the more notable changes <\/span><span id=\"E131\">made to the unit during his tenure as a<\/span><span id=\"E132\"> commanding officer; noting the continued partic<\/span><span id=\"E133\">ipation of members of the RMR during<\/span><span id=\"E134\"> <\/span><span id=\"E135\">several<\/span><span id=\"E136\"> exercises, the recent increase in junior leadership and senior non-commissioned officers as well as the notable increase in serving officers.<\/span><br id=\"E138\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><br id=\"E140\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><span id=\"E141\">He also took the opportunity to thank those who have helped him in his journey: the <\/span><span id=\"E142\">S<\/span><span id=\"E143\">ergeant<\/span><span id=\"E144\"> Majors, the <\/span><span id=\"E145\">many <\/span><span id=\"E146\">Captain Adjutants along with the Honorary C<\/span><span id=\"E147\">olonels who <\/span><span id=\"E148\">supported him for over<\/span><span id=\"E149\"> four <\/span><span id=\"E150\">year<\/span><span id=\"E151\">s<\/span><span id=\"E152\"> <\/span><span id=\"E153\">of service<\/span><span id=\"E154\"> as CO<\/span><span id=\"E155\">,<\/span><span id=\"E156\"> <\/span><span id=\"E157\">not<\/span><span id=\"E158\"> forgetting his devoted partner<\/span><span id=\"E159\">, with<\/span><span id=\"E160\"> whose patience and support<\/span><span id=\"E161\"> allowed<\/span><span id=\"E162\"> his dedicated service <\/span><span id=\"E163\">to be<\/span><span id=\"E164\"> possible<\/span><span id=\"E165\">.<\/span><br id=\"E168\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><span id=\"E169\">It is with hono<\/span><span id=\"E170\">u<\/span><span id=\"E171\">r and confidence that he then proceeded to hand<\/span><span id=\"E172\"> over the Queen\u2019s and <\/span><span id=\"E173\">the <\/span><span id=\"E174\">Regimental C<\/span><span id=\"E175\">olours to <\/span><span id=\"E177\">LC<\/span><span id=\"E178\">ol<\/span><span id=\"E180\"> Denis.<\/span><br id=\"E182\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><br id=\"E184\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><span id=\"E185\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\">A new CO<\/span><span id=\"E186\" class=\"qowt-stl-Strong\"> takes up the sword of the RMR!<\/span><br id=\"E188\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><br id=\"E190\" data-line-break=\"true\" \/><span id=\"E191\">Before parading at the <\/span><span id=\"E192\">head <\/span><span id=\"E193\">of<\/span><span id=\"E194\"> the regiment, <\/span><span id=\"E196\">LCol<\/span><span id=\"E198\"> Denis addressed his troops<\/span><span id=\"E199\"> for the first time as <\/span><span id=\"E200\">their <\/span><span id=\"E201\">commanding officer. <\/span><span id=\"E202\"> <\/span><span id=\"E203\">He<\/span><span id=\"E204\"> spoke of previous an<\/span><span id=\"E205\">d upcoming challenges that The R<\/span><span id=\"E206\">egiment will face<\/span><span id=\"E207\"> tog<\/span><span id=\"E208\">ether and of how he\u2019s committed <\/span><span id=\"E209\">to living up to the expectations of the <\/span><span id=\"E210\">RMR<\/span><span id=\"E211\"> while striving to work towards c<\/span><span id=\"E212\">ontinuing the work started by <\/span><span id=\"E214\">LC<\/span><span id=\"E215\">ol<\/span><span id=\"E217\"> <\/span><span id=\"E219\">Langlais<\/span><span id=\"E221\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" contenteditable=\"true\">\n<div id=\"contents\">\n<p class=\"qowt-stl-NormalWeb\"><span id=\"E226\">The Regi<\/span><span id=\"E227\">mental family wishes all the best<\/span><span id=\"E228\"> t<\/span><span id=\"E229\">o the outgoing CO <\/span><span id=\"E230\">in all his future endeavours <\/span><span id=\"E231\">and welcomes the new commanding officer.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"qowt-stl-NormalWeb\"><em>A copy of this article was published in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.journalservir.com\/ftp\/journaux\/VOL_22_NO_09_SERVIR_2015_11_04.pdf?time=1446737209\" target=\"_blank\">Volume 22 &#8211;
