Westmount, Quebec – 29 October 2015: \u00a0This past <\/span>Sunday, on the 25<\/span>th<\/span> of October, a change of command took place <\/span>between Lieutenant C<\/span>olonel<\/span> (<\/span>LCol<\/span>)<\/span> Paul <\/span>Langlais<\/span>, outgo<\/span>ing commanding officer<\/span> (CO)<\/span>,<\/span> and <\/span>L<\/span>Col<\/span> <\/span>Jean-Fran<\/span>\u00e7ois Denis incoming <\/span>CO<\/span> of The Royal Montreal Regiment<\/span> (RMR)<\/span>. The ceremony took place at t<\/span>he home of The Royal Montreal Regiment located in the heart of Westmount.<\/span><\/p>\n

Th<\/span>e ceremony eventuated <\/span>under <\/span>the <\/span>presiding officer<\/span> C<\/span>olonel Dan <\/span>Chafa\u00ef<\/span>, <\/span>commander of the <\/span>34<\/span>th<\/span> Canadian Brigade Group (34 CBG), as well as several distinguished guests, including the <\/span>honourable<\/span> Peter Trent, mayor of Westmount<\/span>. This was also an occasion for <\/span>LC<\/span>ol<\/span> <\/span>Langlais<\/span> to march at the head of The Regiment one last time and to say goodbye to <\/span>T<\/span>he<\/span> <\/span>R<\/span>egimental family.<\/span>

In his departing speech, <\/span>LC<\/span>ol<\/span> <\/span>Lang<\/span>lais<\/span> talked about the ties the RMR<\/span> holds with the various <\/span>communities<\/span> and how it was one of his priorities to maintain and <\/span>strengthen<\/span> those bonds <\/span>during his command<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span> <\/span>The <\/span>RMR<\/span> accomplishes this by regularly para<\/span>ding in their affiliated cities: <\/span>Westmoun<\/span>t<\/span>,<\/span> Ham<\/span>p<\/span>stead and Pointe-Claire<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>to<\/span> which<\/span> they recently exer<\/span>cised their freedom of the city. <\/span>He took the <\/span>opportunity<\/span> to highlight some of the more notable changes <\/span>made to the unit during his tenure as a<\/span> commanding officer; noting the continued partic<\/span>ipation of members of the RMR during<\/span> <\/span>several<\/span> exercises, the recent increase in junior leadership and senior non-commissioned officers as well as the notable increase in serving officers.<\/span>

He also took the opportunity to thank those who have helped him in his journey: the <\/span>S<\/span>ergeant<\/span> Majors, the <\/span>many <\/span>Captain Adjutants along with the Honorary C<\/span>olonels who <\/span>supported him for over<\/span> four <\/span>year<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>of service<\/span> as CO<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>not<\/span> forgetting his devoted partner<\/span>, with<\/span> whose patience and support<\/span> allowed<\/span> his dedicated service <\/span>to be<\/span> possible<\/span>.<\/span>
It is with hono<\/span>u<\/span>r and confidence that he then proceeded to hand<\/span> over the Queen\u2019s and <\/span>the <\/span>Regimental C<\/span>olours to <\/span>LC<\/span>ol<\/span> Denis.<\/span>

A new CO<\/span> takes up the sword of the RMR!<\/span>

Before parading at the <\/span>head <\/span>of<\/span> the regiment, <\/span>LCol<\/span> Denis addressed his troops<\/span> for the first time as <\/span>their <\/span>commanding officer. <\/span> <\/span>He<\/span> spoke of previous an<\/span>d upcoming challenges that The R<\/span>egiment will face<\/span> tog<\/span>ether and of how he\u2019s committed <\/span>to living up to the expectations of the <\/span>RMR<\/span> while striving to work towards c<\/span>ontinuing the work started by <\/span>LC<\/span>ol<\/span> <\/span>Langlais<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Regi<\/span>mental family wishes all the best<\/span> t<\/span>o the outgoing CO <\/span>in all his future endeavours <\/span>and welcomes the new commanding officer.<\/span><\/p>\n
