Cadet Corps 2806 Pointe-Claire (RMR)\u00a0had a busy Saturday renewing their affiliation with The Royal Montreal Regiment. \u00a0They spent the day training at the Regimental home on Ste-Catherine street in Westmount, starting off with a briefing on the history &amp; traditions of the Regiment from the RMR&#8217;s Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel, who himself is a former Pointe-Claire 2806 (RMR) cadet.<\/p>\n<p>The Cadets experienced the opportunity to practice their drill on the same parade square where thousands of RMR&#8217;s have drilled over the past 90 years since the Armoury opened for training. \u00a0Numerous promotions were also issued on the parade square in front of the Regiment&#8217;s <em>&#8216;hallowed ground&#8217;<\/em> &#8211; the bronze memorial tablet located on the North wall.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11214\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 231px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Cadets-Briefing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11214\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Cadets-Briefing-300x229.jpg\" alt=\"Cadets Briefing\" width=\"231\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Cadets being briefed by RMR cadre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A half-dozen instructors from the RMR were on hand to give the Cadets a familiarization with military equipment, etc. This was an excellent opportunity for interaction between different branches of the same Regimental family tree.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11216\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 300px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Corneau-Robinson.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11216 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Corneau-Robinson-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Corneau-Robinson\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">WO Corneau (Left) Receives Commemorative RMR Centennial Envelope from HonLCol Robinson (Right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Later that evening, back in Pointe-Claire, the Cadets held a traditional mess dinner with the\u00a0RMR&#8217;s Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel as their guest of honour. \u00a0He explained the significance of numerous customs associated with mess dinners, as well as used the opportunity to reward WO Richard Corneau for his more than 25-years of volunteering with the Corps.<\/p>\n<p>WO Corneau, a former \u00a0Pointe-Claire 2806 (RMR) cadet himself, was given a framed copy of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/centennial\/commemorative-envelope\/\" target=\"_blank\">RMR&#8217;s <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadapost.ca\/cpo\/mc\/aboutus\/news\/pr\/2014\/2014_royalMontrealRegiment.jsf\" target=\"_blank\">commemorative envelope<\/a> issued by Canada Post in September 2014 honouring the RMR\u2019s century of service to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>20 April 2015, Pointe-Claire, QC &#8211;
