{"id":11143,"date":"2015-04-21T21:41:55","date_gmt":"2015-04-22T01:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/?p=11143"},"modified":"2015-04-21T21:41:55","modified_gmt":"2015-04-22T01:41:55","slug":"rmr-association-making-a-difference-for-soldiers-veterans-and-their-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmrmuseum.com\/fr\/rmr-association-making-a-difference-for-soldiers-veterans-and-their-families\/","title":{"rendered":"RMR Association: Making a Difference For Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_11159\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 300px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/FullSizeRender.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11159 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/FullSizeRender-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"FullSizeRender\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Comrade Sue Guerin, President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/rmr-association\/\" target=\"_blank\">RMR Association (Br. 14)<\/a> presents the\u00a0cheque to <a href=\"http:\/\/westmount.org\/council\/city-council\/\" target=\"_blank\">Councillor Rosalind Davis<\/a> who accepted on behalf of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Canada Company<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>15 April 2015, Westmount, QC &#8211; In a ceremony preceding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/battle-of-vimy-ridge-movie-night-a-success\/\" target=\"_blank\">RMR Foundation&#8217;s Vimy Movie Night<\/a> last Thursday, the comrades of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/rmr-association\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>RMR Association (Branch 14) of the Royal Canadian Legion<\/strong><\/a> presented a cheque to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company<\/a>, a charity\u00a0that\u00a0began in 2006 with a pledge to stand shoulder to shoulder with our troops for the sacrifices they make every day. \u00a0Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Canada Company Quebec Chapter President,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/sea-to-sea\/eastern-canada\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Gregory<\/a>, was <a href=\"http:\/\/westmount.org\/council\/city-council\/\" target=\"_blank\">Councillor Rosalind Davis of Westmount<\/a>, the Commissioner of Sports and Recreation.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2006,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company<\/a>\u00a0has grown to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/supporters\/supporters\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">several hundred\u00a0members<\/a> and has firmly become an influential voice advocating for our troops at home and abroad. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company<\/a>\u00a0quickly established a reputation among senior Military leaders, media and many members of the business community as a growing outreach between Canada\u2019s Armed Forces and the corporate world. \u00a0Since its inception in 2006, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company<\/a>\u00a0has taken a leadership role in developing and supporting initiatives that help our men and women who serve and the work that they do at home and abroad. \u00a0Initiatives have ranged from large, far-reaching projects such as the launch of a Scholarship Fund which provides the surviving offspring of military personnel KIA with scholarships of up to $16,000 each to help defray the costs of their post-secondary education, to fundraising for hospitals in Kabul and Kandahar to donating soccer balls to children in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/canadacompany\/met\/en\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-11158 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/met-logo.png\" alt=\"met-logo\" width=\"187\" height=\"92\" \/><\/a>The current focus of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company<\/a> is their\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/canadacompany\/met\/en\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">Military Employment Transition (MET) Program<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0which is an initiative developed to assist Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, Reservists, and Veterans who are transitioning out of the military to\u00a0obtain employment in the civilian workforce. The program serves as a bridge between the CAF and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadacompany.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Company\u2019s<\/a> &#8220;Military Friendly Employer Partners&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The mandate of the program is to establish, foster, and drive the connection and relationship between Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans, and the leaders in the public and private sector who will offer employment opportunities.
