B. Nourse, of the Princess Pat\u2019s, for conspicuous gallantry at St. Eloi on the 28<sup>th<\/sup> of February, when he was one of\u00a0 the first to enter the German trenches in an attack.\u00a0 He scaled the barrier and continued to fight on the far side until he had fired 130 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Private Nourse is a South African and is a member of No. 1 Company of the Pat\u2019s.\u00a0 He is the first member of a Canadian regiment to be decorated in the present war.\u00a0 He enlisted from Toronto.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0** \u00a0<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n<h5><em>\u00a0* Note\u00a0 1:\u00a0 Although the media often referred to them as the \u2018Princess Pat\u2019s\u2019 no member of Canada\u2019s distinguished regiment, the Princess Patricia\u2019s Canadian Light Infantry,\u201d past or present, would ever refer to their fine regiment as the \u2018Princess Pat\u2019s.\u2019\u00a0 That is considered an insult, and they rightfully refer to their regiment as the \u201cPrincess Patricia\u2019s.\u201d<\/em><\/h5>\n<h5><em>**\u00a0 Note 2:\u00a0 See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/first-dcm-awarded-to-a-canadian-in-ww1-goes-to-an-rmr-soldier\/\" target=\"_blank\">our posting for March 11, 1915<\/a> in which was recorded the award of a D.C.M. for Stretcher Bearer Reginald H. Drake of the 14<sup>th<\/sup> Bn.\u00a0 His was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the first D.C.M. to be awarded to a member of the First Canadian Division<\/span>.\u00a0<\/em><\/h5>\n<h5><em>The above announcement of the award of the D.C.M. to Private C. B.
