{"id":10212,"date":"2014-12-06T06:00:34","date_gmt":"2014-12-06T11:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/?p=10212"},"modified":"2014-12-06T06:00:34","modified_gmt":"2014-12-06T11:00:34","slug":"canadian-aviation-corps-formed-in-1914","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmrmuseum.com\/fr\/canadian-aviation-corps-formed-in-1914\/","title":{"rendered":"CANADIAN AVIATION CORPS FORMED in 1914"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Sunday, December 6, 1914<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In Camp, West Down South, Salisbury Plains<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Battalion War Diarist wrote for this day:<em> \u201cDuty Battalion.\u00a0 Church Parade.\u201d \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/?p=9817&amp;preview=true#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[1]<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/06-Dec-14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10127\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalmontrealregiment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/06-Dec-14-300x144.png\" alt=\"06 Dec 14\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" \/><\/a>THIS DAY IN RMR HISTORY: \u201cOttawa.\u00a0 Nov. 30<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 A Canadian aviation corps is being organized at Salisbury Plain, and will be attached to the Canadian army when it leaves for the front.\u00a0 Negotiations have been in progress between Canada and the British War Office for some time, and it has now been decided to form a squadron of twelve aeroplanes.\u00a0 The squadron will be in command of Captain Janney of Galt, Ontario, an experienced aviator.\u00a0 Captain Janney flew from Massachusetts to Valcartier camp to join the first contingent.<\/p>\n<p>There are two other Canadian aviators, M. Sharpe and Harry A.
