Santa Claus visits the RMR

Santa Claus visits the RMR

Article written by Warrant Officer Brent McNair, CSM A Company

Santa quizzes the children as to the validity of their “only nice, never naughty” claims. A deal was struck where he would overlook any possible transgressions if they promised to not tell the RSM that Santa was sitting in his chair.

Westmount, Qc – Sunday 18 Dec 2016 was a special day for 24 youngster who were lucky enough to get an early visit from the one and only Saint Nicholas! Santa made a special appearance in the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess of The Royal Montreal Regiment as part of the annual Children’s Christmas Party. Children of serving members, former serving members, and friends of the Regiment were invited to take part in the special day that was hosted by all three messes of the Regiment and the RMR Association (Branch 14).

Some of the days activities were playing on inflatable bouncy castles, a pizza party, snacks and of course a visit from Saint Nicholas! Jolly ‘ol Saint Nick quizzed the children on their behavior and to his surprise not a single child said they were naughty (a declaration that more than a few parents scoffed at)! Santa took the time to speak to each child and gave them each an early Christmas present, straight from his workshop in the North Pole.

The event was a great success with 24 children, 22 parents and nine volunteers taking part. A special thanks goes out to the nine volunteers from all three messes and the RMR Association; thanks for all the hard work!

Smiles from all attendees

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
