RMR ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES 2015 BURSARY PROGRAM

Westmount, 07 January 2015: Two different application packages have been launched for bursary and scholarship programs through the Royal Canadian Legion: the RMR Association Bursary Program and the Quebec Provincial Command Scholarship Program.  As the two programs are independently funded and administered by the RMR Association and Quebec Provincial Command; the eligibility criteria, application, deadlines, and the awarding of the bursary/scholarship is the exclusive jurisdiction of each organization.

The RMR Association Bursary Program:  This program is wholly funded through the RMR Association Poppy Trust Fund and administered by the RMR Association Bursary Committee.  Through this program, founded in 2013, the RMR Association (Branch 14) assumes its rightful responsibility of awarding bursaries to eligible students who are children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of any person who is serving or has honourably served in the Canadian Forces.  This fulfills one of the fundamental tenets of the basic purpose and obligations of the Poppy Trust Fund.

Please take a few minutes to carefully review the RMR Association Bursary Program Application package. Should all of the eligibility criteria for the program be applicable to any of your children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren; we encourage you to share the attached bursary opportunity with them.  Please carefully note, the completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the Bursary Committee by 15 March 2015.

The Bursary Committee of the RMR Association Bursary Program encourages student-applicants who are eligible to apply for a bursary under our program to also apply for a bursary under the Provincial Command program below.

Quebec Provincial Command Scholarship ProgramQuebec Provincial Command of The Royal Canadian Legion administers a Scholarship Program for eligible applicants.  Provincial Command’s program is funded by other Legion funds and therefore NOT governed under the same restrictions imposed from Dominion Command on programs such as that of the RMR Association which is exclusively funded through Poppy Trust Funds. Accordingly, the Quebec Provincial Command program is permitted to focus on a wider segment of the student population.

Please take a few minutes to carefully review the Quebec Provincial Command Scholarship Application package.  Also please note the eligibility criteria under this program as they differ from that of the RMR Association Bursary Program.  Should you know of anyone in your family who would meet the eligibility criteria for the program, we encourage you to share the attached bursary opportunity with them.  Please carefully note, the completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the Quebec Provincial Command by 1 March 2015.

The Quebec Provincial Command Scholarship Program is wholly independent and administered solely by Quebec Provincial Command.  This program is an additional avenue for eligible applicants to apply for funding to support their studies.
